Kelli Lene
2018 Massage Therapy Hall of Fame Member

Kelli Lene is the founder of Time Well Spent Wellness Exchange. She began her professional life in corporate marketing for the hospitality industry. Seeking another path she studied massage and began to explore what worked for the public and sparked her interest. In over 30 years Kelli has been able to combine her expertise as an advocate; advanced practitioner; consultant and educator in the Wellness Industry. As an industry expert, she has had the opportunity to work with diverse cross sections of stakeholders: including manufacturers; schools; spas; community/corporate wellness programs and continuing education programs for therapists and educators.

As a practioner, Kelli Lene's primary focus has been to integrate clinical approaches with the study of indigenous and timeless wellness practices from around the world. As an educator, she has presented programs focused on Therapeutic Spa; Working with Special Populations; Indigenous Healing Arts; and Designing Intentional Careers. What she teaches is a direct reflection of her vast experience and extensive education, combined with a overiding commitment to flourishing - personally and professionally.

Kelli's exposure to indigenous healing traditions began while growing up; continued with educational opportunities by various traditional teachers and eventually led to a study of Sacred Stone Medicine with Jenny Ray, a Sante Elder. As a graduate of The Medicine Path Program – A Study of Native American Traditional Healing Arts, Kelli carries the designation of "Inyan Mani". This means that she has demonstrated enough knowledge and skill to bring honor to the tradition of moving stones to, and on the body, in a way that promotes wellness and healing.

Kelli has also been entrusted by Sacred Stone Medicine as an Ambassador to teach some of these techniques with like-minded Wellness Walkers. By that we mean people involved in supporting wellness and well-being, who wish to explore a deeper connection with their work. She is committed to sharing how this ancient wisdom confirmed by modern science, can benefit us all.

Native American Inspired Self-Care
4 CE Hours

Class description:

Jenny Ray, a Native American Elder, designed this self care program to share some of her tribal linage's long-established techniques, while sharing the tradition and introducing the modern research that supports its efficacy. She has dedicated her life to advancing people's understanding and use of these techniques through her organization Stone Medicine. With Stone Medicine, she had traveled the world sharing her gifts and journey with thousands of people, mostly massage therapists.

This class includes an introduction to:

Stone Massage: Over 10,000 years ago, the ancestors of Native American tribes began offering stones to the body for wellness. Stone Medicine introduces these ancient traditions using heated and chilled stones. We will reconnect with these traditions while learning how to marry them with modern settings. You will be immersed in a deeper understanding of the wisdom of wellness from the Inyan Oyate (Stone Nation). Wisdom that leads not only to self care intended to affect the physical body but also the emotional and spiritual body as well.

Sacred Four Directions: We will explore the tradition of the Four Directions altar by the establishment of a representation of one. The Four Directions and the use of various herbs and their properties will be discussed. This gives a base for understanding the roots of this tradition.

Smudging: This is a practice that is shared on every continent. Learn the observation as it is practiced by the Santee People. Sage will be used in offering traditional smudging and the explanation behind this ritual will be explained. We will also explore the science of its efficacy.

Creation of a Smudging Fan: Participants have the opportunity to craft their own personal smudging fan in a current and traditional manner

PLEASE DO NOT WEAR PERFUME, COLOGNE OR ESSENTIAL OILS TO CLASS.
