Sandra Hoak

Sandra Hoak, MA, EdS. has been practicing and teaching massage since 1997. She began studying traditions as taught by Jenny Ray, a Native American Elder decades ago. Jenny teaches the ways of her ancestors from the Santee People of the Sioux Nation. Jenny developed courses based on these Native traditions and wellness methods. These courses became the NCBTMB approved Stone Medicine Continuing Education courses.

Sandra began a massage school, Cedar Stone School of Massage, based on these Native stone massage techniques and traditions in 2009. In 2017, Sandra and Cedar Stone became the next guardian hands of Stone Medicine Continuing Education courses. Today, we are humbled and blessed with opportunities to share and pass on these traditions and wellness teachings.

Over the past 25 years, Sandra has been a counselor, massage therapist, and educator with a focus on Native American wellness methods and traditions. She has taught Stone Medicine wellness methods and Native traditions in the US, facilitated Sacred Journey circles, served as Lodgekeeper, Pipecarrier and Waterpourer for Inipi or Sweat Lodge ceremony. Sandra resides in Harrisonburg, VA with her family and enjoys spending time with her young grandchildren. She and our Stone Medicine team look forward to sharing Healing Hands at World Massage Festival.

Healing Hands (Native American Energy Work

4 CE Hours

Class description:

'Healing Hands' is a term used to describe hands-on 'energy' work. This class reaches into ancient history for its foundation. Healers, Shamans, and Medicine people have been offering this form of hands on, energetic healing for generations.

Healing Hands is a technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing to improve one’s health and enhance the quality of life. It is administered by placing hands on the body. In the Native way, we see it as Wakan (sacred). It is the ‘spirit’ of the living.

Healing Hands draws on the innate wisdom of the universe to bring about balance for the client. The symbols used in Healing Hands have been drawn as petroglyphs and pictographs in Native American rock art throughout the Americas. In this class you will learn how to use those symbols and what they stand for regarding health and wellness.

Through demonstrations and hands on practice, you will learn how to employ this natural and non-invasive healing art in this introductory course. Students will participate in ritual and ceremony during an initiation process to bring your hands in harmony with Creator’s energy.

PLEASE DO NOT WEAR PERFUME, COLOGNE OR ESSENTIAL OILS TO CLASS.
