Pat Donohue has earned the right to be called "expert" in Massage Therapy. She is a member of the Hall of Fame and Life Time Achievement Awards from the WMF and FSMTA for years of dedication to the profession of massage therapy. She was trained in the lineages of the creators of their techniques. There's nothing like learning from those who have passed down the original knowledge from Elizabeth Dicke, founder of Bindegewebsmassage. Now you have the opportunity to share in that legacy by learning from Pat Donohue.

Professor Donohue was the Chair of Swedish Massage Program at the New York College in Syosset, NY where she developed curriculum and supervise instructors in techniques. She has been active at the board level of her state and national massage organizations. She has also sat on the Oxford Insurance Board representing massage therapy as well as the Chair of the Insurance Committee on Insurance for AMTA. Pat has a wide background in Swedish, AMMA, Shiatsu, and Classical Swedish Massage which spans over 58 years; Pat currently lives in Florida and remains active in education as an NCB and CE Broker provider for massage therapists.



BINDEGEWEBSMASSAGE Basic Session
4 CE Credit Hours

This workshop presents a brief overview of the history of Bindegewebsmassage -*CTM (connective tissue massage), its fundamental principles and physiological effects. Pat will demonstrate the proper use of strokes, balancing techniques, body mechanics and draping. At the completion of the course, the student will have an introductory level of skill in Bindegewebsmassage. The beginning of any and all treatments with *CTM massage starts with the basic build-up. This paves the way for specific treatments for pathological problem. (Stress, Headaches, Lower Back Pain, Sciatica.)

Course Objectives:
  1. Describe/identify the reflex arch (sensory - motor nerve responses).
  2. Discuss/demonstrate the technique of the transverse pull over the subcutaneous tissues of the body.
  3. Describe/identify responses this technique will have on the body including the effects on muscle tissue, circulation, lymphatic drainage, nerve tissue, the skin and other organs.
  4. Discuss/identify the importance of proper fascia-nerve stimulation to enhance massive organic changes affecting the spinal nerves at a local dermatome level.
  5. Demonstrate/identify the proper body mechanic for the technique.
  6. Demonstrate/identify proper draping.
  7. Identify and recognize indication and contraindications.
  8. Discuss/identify the importance of the patient's responsibility to holistic care and the effects of working this treatment.
  9. Describe/identify the effects of massage on pain and how CTM directly influences local musculoskeletal elements.
  10. Develop a greater skill by using the fascia-neuro release techniques from Bindegewebsmassage.
Supplies needed: Massage table, hospital gown or bathrobe that opening in the back, sheets, towels, bolster and a blanket and water bottle.
