Laura Allen is the President of Sales & Marketing at CryoDerm, a licensed massage therapist, educator, and author of more than a dozen books and numerous articles that have been published in trade journals. Her regular column, Heart of Bodywork, appears in Massage & Bodywork Magazine. She is a 2011 inductee into the Massage Therapy Hall of Fame and is on the visiting faculty of the Obus School of Healing Therapies in Leixlip, Ireland. She resides in Rutherfordton NC with her husband, James, and their two rescue dogs.

It takes more than being a good massage therapist to be a good instructor. You’ll get all kinds of tips for creating a teaching experience that will benefit both you and your students.

The Educated Heart: Roles and Boundaries 3 CEU's

This very interactive class is based on Nina McIntosh’s The Educated Heart (which I have authored the last two editions of since her passing in 2010). Many times, ethics classes focus on the boundaries of the client—but we need to think about our own boundaries as well! We’ll view short videos depicting common dilemmas that massage therapists are faced with concerning their own boundaries, and attendees will take turns giving different reactions—sounding judgmental, personalizing issues, or handling things in a calm and professional manner. It’s great practice for when pesky situations arise, and great fun as well.
